CLIENT

A family — a bold, cosmopolitan trio of parents and their young daughter — with a fearless aesthetic vision, seeking a home that embodies eclecticism, unapologetic contrasts, and a cinematic, magazine-worthy quality.

TASK

To translate the family’s daring vision into a two-level penthouse where theatrical contrasts, sculptural elements, and eclectic influences create a cohesive, expressive, and fully personalized living experience.

THE CONCEPT

”This interior must be worthy of a Vogue Living cover” — with this bold declaration, the client set the tone from the very first meeting. This penthouse is not just a home, but a stage: a theatrical, bold, and expressive composition of colors, textures, and eras. Much of its spirit comes directly from her fearless vision, shaped by travels around the world and studies in London. She imagined eclecticism without compromise, unapologetic contrasts, and a daring mix of influences that could easily belong in the pages of any architectural magazine.

Every corner invites exploration — a green marble fireplace, a Moldovan carpet anchoring the seating area, oriental-inspired wallpapers, mirrors framed in antique grandeur, and flashes of bronze, mosaic, and stone. Soaring ceilings, sculptural staircases, and double-height spaces amplify the sense of volume.

The apartment is a kaleidoscope of influences: paladian-inspired accents meet playful patterns, vintage and contemporary pieces coexist, and intense hues spark dialogue across rooms. It is an unapologetic celebration of personality, where every detail is a statement, and everyday living becomes a curated, cinematic experience.

LAYOUT

The penthouse unfolds over two levels. The ground floor hosts the social heart: an entrance hall adorned with oriental wallpaper, mirrors, and integrated storage creates a spectacular welcome. The living and dining area stretches beneath double-height ceilings, anchored by the green marble fireplace. The seating arrangement is deliberately varied, while the piano adds a cultural layer to the space. The kitchen island is sculptural, with three recessed arcs for seating, surrounded by cabinetry in shades of green with brass and bronze accents. The adjoining library offers intimacy and focus, complete with a chess corner, while a guest bathroom features a striking mirror seemingly held by sculptural bronze hands.

The vertical connection between levels is a spectacle in itself: a bold black-and-white mural climbs the wall alongside the staircase, its sweeping lines uniting the two floors. This powerful graphic gesture is paired with a bronzed balustrade carrying a textured effect, which reinforces the sculptural drama of the ascent.

The mansard level accommodates the private quarters. The master suite blends deep blue walls with mustard draperies cascading like a tent across the sloping ceiling, alongside black-and-white bedside furniture and elegant lighting fixtures. It is completed by a large walk-in wardrobe and an en-suite bathroom that features mosaic and sakura-patterned wallpaper, with an antique-style console integrating the sink and a hammam.

The child’s bedroom is both playful and elegant, designed to grow gracefully along with its young resident. It combines a dedicated study area and generous storage with an elevated bed that brings a sense of adventure. Beneath it, a soft activity nook creates space for reading, play, or quiet moments of retreat. The adjoining bathroom continues the joyful character, animated by colorful stone inlays that add vibrancy and personality.

A secondary lounge and technical spaces complete the upper level.

The secondary lounge brings a burst of playful energy to the upper level — a spot for games, creativity, and spontaneous fun. A bright yellow wall meets a deep blue sofa in a bold dialogue of contrasts, while the brass handrail and freehand wall ornament from the lower floor reappear as subtle echoes of continuity. Simpler in form but rich in character, this space connects the master suite, the child’s room, and the laundry, capturing the home’s daring spirit with a lighter, more dynamic rhythm.

The design throughout balances theatrical contrasts and tactile richness: herringbone parquet flows naturally alongside aged mirrors, delicate classical moldings frame spaces without rigidity, and textured bronze surfaces punctuate the interior. Every detail invites discovery, composing a home that is unapologetically bold, expressive, and entirely unique.
