CLIENT

A young cosmopolitan family with three children, seeking a calm, functional, and elegant home in the city — a space that balances family intimacy with social gatherings.

TASK

To design an apartment that feels serene and contemporary, with practical solutions for everyday family life, personalized children’s spaces, and a refined atmosphere that adapts easily from daily routine to entertaining.

THE CONCEPT

This Bucharest apartment was designed as a calm retreat for a family with three children — a serene yet contemporary home where daily life flows with ease.

Natural tones, warm wood floors, and soft textures create a minimalist, balanced backdrop. Subtle color accents and layered lighting bring intimacy and atmosphere, turning evenings into cozy family moments or lively gatherings with friends over a glass of wine. The interiors avoid excess, yet every detail feels intentional — functional, thoughtful, and refined.

It is a space with an urban spirit: clear lines, natural elegance, and just the right touch of character.

LAYOUT

The apartment’s layout was tailored to the family’s rhythm. The entrance hall makes a striking first impression, with mirrors and discreet storage, while an adjacent compact wardrobe adds practicality. From here, the day area opens into a spacious, light-filled open plan — anchored by an extended soft seating zone for family movie nights on the large projector screen. The kitchen with its island blends seamlessly into this social core, designed for both everyday life and entertaining.

The master suite combines comfort and functionality: a darker, more intimate bedroom atmosphere with an integrated make-up area, a generous walk-in wardrobe, and a private bathroom. The children’s spaces each carry their own character: the daughter’s room is playful yet already adaptable, with a future make-up corner in mind, while the boys share a bedroom for now — a temporary arrangement, as the eldest will soon leave for studies.

The material palette is restrained: off-white and beige walls with accents of grey and anthracite, balanced by darker wood furniture. Multiple sources of ambient lighting allow the mood to shift — from vibrant family life to relaxed, cozy evenings.

Altogether, the apartment embodies a contemporary city lifestyle: minimalist, functional, and welcoming, with a quiet elegance that supports both family intimacy and social energy.
